K-Drama Dual Subs (Chrome extension) · Effective date: October 8, 2026 · Last updated: October 8, 2026
1. What the extension does
K-Drama Dual Subs displays Korean and English subtitles (with optional romanization) over videos on supported video sites, and lets you click a word to look it up and save it to a personal vocabulary list.
2. Data we collect
None. The developer does not receive any information from the extension. There is no tracking, no analytics, no advertising code and no remote code.
3. Data stored on your device
To work, the extension stores the following using Chrome's built-in storage (chrome.storage):
| Data | Where | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Display settings (on/off, romanization, English line, position, font size, hide native captions) | chrome.storage.sync | Remember your preferences. If you use Chrome Sync, Google syncs these between your own browsers under Google's privacy policy; the developer cannot see them. |
| Saved vocabulary: the word, its romanization, the Korean and English subtitle sentence, the video title, video ID and time position, and the date saved | chrome.storage.local | Show your word list and let you export it. It stays on this computer. |
You can delete this data at any time with the Clear button in the extension popup, or by removing the extension.
4. Network requests
- Subtitles: on a supported video site, the extension asks that same site for the subtitle files of the video you are watching, as the site's own player does. No data is sent anywhere else (except the license check in section 4a, if you use Pro).
- Dictionary links: only if you click a dictionary link in the word popup, a new tab opens on that dictionary site (Naver Dictionary or Wiktionary) with the word in the address. That site's own privacy policy applies.
4a. Pro license check (only if you activate a license key)
If you buy Pro and enter a license key in the extension popup, the extension contacts our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy (api.lemonsqueezy.com), to activate and verify that key. Chrome asks for your permission first. Nothing is sent if you never activate a key.
| Data sent | When | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Your license key | On activation, about once a day while the key is stored, and when you remove the key | Confirm the purchase is valid and not expired, refunded or disabled |
Instance name: a fixed label plus a random code, e.g. K-Dual Subs (Chrome) 3fa9c1d2, and the instance ID Lemon Squeezy returns | On activation (name), and on each check / removal (ID) | Count how many browsers use the key (activation limit) and let you free one |
No browsing history, video information, subtitles, vocabulary, name or email address is sent by the extension. Like any web request, Lemon Squeezy receives your IP address. The key, the instance ID, its status and the time of the last check are stored in chrome.storage.sync so Pro works in your other Chrome browsers; customer details returned by Lemon Squeezy are not stored. Remove key in the popup releases the activation and deletes this data.
Payment itself happens on Lemon Squeezy's checkout page, not in the extension. Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for the purchase and processes your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy (lemonsqueezy.com/privacy). The developer can see the order (including the email address you gave at checkout) in the Lemon Squeezy dashboard, and uses it only to provide the license and support.
5. Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell, transfer or share user data with any third party. Because no data is collected, none is used for advertising, credit decisions or any purpose unrelated to the extension's single purpose. The use of information received from Chrome APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Exported files
CSV and Anki files you export are created in your browser and saved to your computer. What you do with them afterwards is under your control.
7. Children
The extension does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.
8. Changes to this policy
If the extension's data practices change (for example, if optional paid features are added), this page will be updated before the change is released, and the "Last updated" date above will change.
